want to convert my automatic 1966 corvette to 4 speed.
the motor was built with a 1976 350 chevy truck block, the started bolt pattern is straight across, picked up a 403 bellhouing.
what size flywheel? 153 tooth and a 10.4 clutch or 168 tooth.
thanks much.
Older 14inch (EG. 3991469) wheels used with two piece rear main seal are 168 tooth. The starter nose can be switched fron straight to stagger bolt to adapt to the engine block - has nothing to do with the clutch housing or flywheel - except that the 11 in clutch flywheel needs a small starter nose whether straight or stagger bolt.
PS 65-68 327 Corvette used 3973452, 3791021 found in 6cyl Buicks or Camaros and v8 Camaros, chevelles, trucks, chevy iis, and MonteCarlos. The 3991406 was used in 65 Corvette 396 and 68-9 427, as well as 70-72 350s with big clutch. The 11 inch clutch requires the 621 or 444 (correct) clutch housing.
Magic: I THINK I have the flywheel down in my garage that was removed from the ('76) 350ci engine that was replaced by the ZZ4 Crate and wouldn't fit; OFF-HAND do you know how many teeth it would have?

I'll check my parts manual tonight, if no one else posts the answer. IMO, if the wheel came from the back of the engine that you are installing, all you need is a pressure plate that bolts up and a starter with a straight bolt pattern.
IMO, the casting/part number is irrelevant and the number of teeth only effect the starter - none of which can be seen with the covers on.
