Default TPI installation

I am starting on the installation of a TPI. Has anyone done this yet. I would like to know what type and year gas peddle assembly did you use for a mid-year? Everything else I have figured out. :smash:

I use the pedal and cable from the donor 89 Corvette. I cut off and shortened the arm to locate the pedal in the proper position.

What arm are you speaking about? The one that goes from the firewall bracket to the bottom of the pedal? You wouln't happen to be able to take some pictures for me would you? I have figured everything else out but I don't want to buy the wrong pedal assembly. I will also have to use the cable setup. I have heard people using th linkage rod but that doesn't work for me.

Thanks gain for the info.

I did the same , used a setup from a 85 vette. It bolts flat to the firewall and if you look on the fire wall of the late model you will see a metal plate rivited to the outside of the firewall that holds the cable. Drill out the rivits and use it on your mid year firewall to hold the cable in place. i think the late model cable is the right length also. And yes if you are going the use the midyear pedal then you will have to modify the rod the late model pedal is on. remove the latemodel pedal from the rod and place the new pedal on the firewall then just cut it to the length that will work with the midyear pedal. Or just leave the floating pedal from the newer car. They do work much better.

I cut the arm that goes to the floating pedal and just overlapped it. A couple of bolts through it, and no welding. I like the floating pedal better.

If your not worried about the corvette police giving you a hard time leave the floating pedal

I have been runnig one for 6 or 7 years. I used the stock pedal and lever system, At the firewall I just bent the lever to the center of the car about a inch so it lines up under the tubes and used a stock cable and ran it under the tubes. You have to make a small bracket to hold the outside of the cable in place in front of the stock pedal lever. Then I made a clevice to connect to the pedal lever. If you are interested I will try to put some pictures up, It looks like it came that way and you don't have to mess up the interior.

Good luck SSS
