Default Windshield trim removal tool question

I did a search in the archives about removing the windshield trim, and saw that NAPA carries the tool used to remove the stainless trim. Of course- NAPA doesn't carry them here, anybody know where else I might find one ??

Thanks, John- I will check them out. I usually have a pro do my windshield work, but it's hard to find someone to come to your shop these days.

Just a hint - I would run a couple layers of duct tape around the perimeter of your glass just in case the tool slips and the sharp edge wants to pop out from under the trim & scratch your glass. It also cushions where the metal pivot section of the tool rests on the glass to prevent scratches from it too. :steering:

it's not that difficult of a job once you get the hang of it......... tips: don't hurry, work slow and don't force anything (them trim pieces are expensive to replace :-)

How do you get the trim into the very stiff windshield clips? Also after installing the outer reveal moulding, how does the verticle inner garnish molding fit inside at the top of the outer reveal moulding. Thanks Phil

I'm not sure I understand your questions but putting the trim back on is not any problem. It pretty much snaps into place with a little pressure from your hands or a little tap with the side of your balled up fist (don't get to rough as it can crimp or bend). Be careful as you can chip or scratch your paint handling the trim. You've lost me of inner and outer moldings questions. There is a separate upper corner on the front windshield moldings that snaps into place and is held by two clips, after the side and top moldings are already installed.

The vertical inner garnish moulding slips in under the outer piece at the top.

I am not too concerned about the windshield, as I am replacing it. The car is pretty well dissasembled now, and am ready for body lift-off.

I did find a windshield trim removal tool at Eastwoods, they have quite a few oddball tools.
The stainless trim is in very good shape, so I am trying to be very careful with it.

I was also curious about the side vertical stainless pieces, I take it they are held in place with the horizontal ones.
