Help the idiot remove ignition switch
OK,.., I give up. How do you get this :confused: darn ginition switch off the instrument cluster. I have my 59 instrument cluster off, hoping to remove a few paint layers, but I can't seem to find out how the switch comes off. I can loosen the ferrel around the switch until it is fully unscrewed, but there are these "ears" where the key goes in that prevent the ferrel from coming off. I know there has to be an easy way, but I can't figure it out.

Put the key in the tumbler and put a paper clip in one of the holes and push down as you turn the key counterclock wise.
The tumbler will come out of the switch.

It worked, It worked. I guess if I had asked earlier I could have avoided that uncomfortable moment when I realized my kids were asking my wife what all those strange four letter words Daddy was mumbling while he worked on his car. Many thanks.
