Yes.....It Does Make A Difference...Linkage 101
Well today was a nice Sunny Day.... So I desided to change my Dualquad Linkage from progressive to 1:1 Ratio ( Both 4's on at the same time).
After removing the fuel soaked papper towels from inside the primaries I fired her up and went for a ride. The vette now feels like I added another carb!! It is much more responsive from off idol all the way up to the rev limiter. It seems to pull stronger with less pedal and feels alot faster then before.
There's no bog or loading. When I slamed it to the floor in second..it went like hell!!! I defenitly can feel the difference from Progressive VS 1:1.
Man...........That was a Fun Ride..!!!! It's neat having 2 toilets sitting on top of your motor waiting for a Flush..!! :smiliedrool:

VNV,
While I have not tried this myself (but have thought about it), I thank you for your test results!
One item, since you now have 2 carbs running all the time, it may be possible to lean the carbs "cruise" mixture down a tad. My reasoning is that most dual carb manifolds are terrible when running on just one carb (if the rear is the primary carb, then the front cylinders are running lean, and the rears rich). This is just a function of the distance the fuel/air mix has to travel and how much of the fuel comes out of suspension or never did vaporize (normal fuel wash at low operating velocities within the manifold tracks, with the majority of the unvaporized raw fuel going to the closer cylinders).
You will not want to lean down the "power" mixture (unless it was too rich to begin with).
A little trial and error to pass the time!
What intake manifold and carbs are you running? I have an Offy manifold with dual Carter Competition 500's (on a bored 350).
I am sure your fuel economy will take a hit, but that should take 2nd place compared with the better performance!

Can I do the same thing with an Edelbrock 600 Performer carb?
Not clear what you mean.?? I have 2 500 cfm Eldelbrocks mounted on an Edelbrock 2X4 Manifold. The mainifold is designed for these carbs as well a the cam (Z79) which is matched to the set up and the rear end ratio (3:36):
It is important that every thing is matched for proper performance. If SWC DUKE or Jonn Z are here...they can explain it from an engineering stand point.

In the set up instructions from Edelbrock.. They explain that when doing an idol adjustment..all 4 idol jets (Both Carbs) be adjusted for idol set up. Even in the progressive linkage mode. The Edelbrock 2x4 mainifold flows all 8 cyl at idol so that all the cyl's receive fuel evenly. In the off idol speed range(Intermediate Carb Circuit) in the progressive mode..the front cyls are fead from the rear carb thru there maifold design. In the 1:1 set up it is even more responsive from idol to rev limiter...I'm Impressed..
I will as the weather gets warmer do some fine tunning on the carbs. But this Edelbrock maifold design works excellent with these carbs. It looks like they have done there home work on this manifold. It flows excellent at all speeds and idols like a nice tame grocery getter.
Re: Yes.....It Does Make A Difference...Linkage 101 (Viet Nam Vett)
The real reason VNV changed the linkage, is that with that anvil of a cast on his leg he has a hard time now chasing CHICKEES..... :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: At $2 a gallon how many chickees are you catching..... :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:

And you want to put in a rat motor...
Yes ..RULE#1 The "NCRS" ( Not Correctly Restored Corvette) rules state...You must endeavor to allways spend more money for more HP and more cube's.
RULE#2 Throw as much money as you can at your Vette ...skin your knuckles...get greasey..curse and sware...and always involve your Corvette buddy's in your folly so you will not be ridiculed.
RULE#3 (Big ***** Syndrome) More Cube's are equal to taking "Viagra"..we can always use them....
