I think I will go ahead and order the Dual Friction tonight. I know that clutch might be overkill for a stock 327, but Ive used it before in lesser applications and still liked what I got. Any input one way or the other? Experience with this setup in a midyear? Was going to go with centerforce part number DF271675 for the clutch and disc and N1716 for the throw out bearing. yes no? all for the 66.
Yes, good choice. I use one in my 67 chevelle and as soon as I get the 62 road worthy it will have one. I have a little more hp on tap than the 327 and it does just fine. I like the non leg shake pedal presure. I bought the whole deal including their flywheel.
I have a Centerforce and it works great. Holds well and easy pedal pressure.
If you do get the Centerforce, can you place the stock and the centerforce side-by-side with the throwout bearing on top and take a side view shot? I had to adjust the clutch fork pivot height to get the correct travel on the pedal and had long gotten rid of the stock clutch to compare if there was a height difference.

i ordered the pieces last night and will do the install in two weeks. i can take pics, but based off current pedal pressure, id be very surprised if what i have in there is stock
i used the center force II clutch. liked the 60% more holding capacity than a stock clutch. with stock pedal feel.
from day one , pedal feel is same as stock. very satisfied. and the comfort zone of a greater holding capacity. just for piece of mind.

“I bought the whole deal including their flywheel.”
Maybe that is what I should have done. I purchased the kit,
with the pressure plate, disk and throw out bearing.
After install I could not adjust the linkage enough to get the clutch to disengage.
In effect, there was too much play. The other problem was when the pedal was depressed
The side of the pickle fork hit the weights on the pressure plate.
I removed the Centerforce unit and bought a LUK clutch.
The centerforce came with a 1” throw-out bearing. The shop manual specifies 1.25” bearing.

Had the same problem on the 60 using a stock flywheel. When I did the 67 chevelle I decided not to do a repeat. The flywheel should have the same dimensions as the CF unit but I had trouble getting enough travel to release the clutch, made a new Zbar.
I put in a Centerforce II last year and love it. I purchased the complete setup with T/O bearing but ended up using a longer T/O bearing than the one that came with the setup.
The one that was in my car when I bought it had a longer bearing than the one in the kit and so I stayed with the same size.

Thanks VetteLT4. The height you had with your existing clutch you know worked so that height would be fine too. Somewhere, I think the height is slightly different on the Centerforce and that was why the adjustment to get the clutch to engage is off. I think this is probably the same thing Ghostrider ran into.
Edit: Didn't see the post above, I guess it could have been just the T/O bearing as Markiemeister said. It'd be nice to know for sure.
