My L79 with it's Holley 2818 has been running great this year until this week. It suddenly seems like when the vacuum secondary tries to kick in, the engine just bogs down.
I had the carb restored just last year. Any suggestions on where to start looking?
Ok my first thought was ignition but as i hadn't had that problem in a while so I blamed the carb, wrong!...
Took it for a run and the secondaries kick in fine. It the 4500rpm mark that getting me.... now, where did i put the dwell meter and timing light?
Re: engine bogs under hard acceleration (guycummins)
WOW the dwell shifted from 30 to 20 degrees! Adjusted the point and retimed it, I'm good to go...
Has anyone else seen such a big change in their dwell in so few miles?
&*$%, I did't pull the cap and check to see if the points were tight...
Arrggg

You might also want to put some point lube on the distributor shaft where the arm rides. They can wear pretty quickly w/o it Glad it was nothing really serious
