I posted pics of my modified kick panel speaker set up, and had a member email a question: "Saw an old post where you were getting the Custom Auto Sound Kick Panel Speakers. Did you get them installed ? What do you think about them ?"
Yes I did. The panels were CAS purchased without the CAS supplied speakers. They sound better than the ones I had mounted in the rear. I mounted 4 inch round Rockfork Fosgate speakers, and the convertible actually makes less road noise with the top down - but the kick panel speakers are great with top up or down. I had to modify the panels to get around my A-C ducts, which led to the 4 inch rounds - instead of the 4x6 speakers that the panels are designed to hold. (That's the pic I posted.)
The Rocford-Fosgate 4 inch speakers have lot higher RMS watt rating than any of the 4x6 speakers I could find - including the speakers that normally come with the units.
Nice mod. Do the kick panel speakers completely replace the carpeted kick panels? Mine are worn out and don't really want to waste the money if I don't need new ones. Thanks, Dan
BTW, was thinking of going to the CAS #5 or 6 deck with cassette and CD changer pkg. Do you recommend one over the other? And any chance of install pictures? thanks
They replace the carpet and backing. You need the pinch welt (fat cord) and the metal strip that holds it.
I will try to post pics tomorrow, but they are not painted yet. I lost the front crank seal and my positraction (or maybe the whole diff) on Power Tour - so that's where my repair priorities are now.
Wow, sorry to hear about that! I found the link to the pictures. More interested in how to cut and reweld or glue them back and make them look good.
Thanks, Dan
