Hooker side pipes

Does anyone know if you can install Hooker sidepipe headers in a '65 small block/no air without pulling the engine?

Yes you sure can! You need to jack up the car, and install from underneath.

Where are you buying your side pipes from. I too have a 65 and am considering sidepipes.

Hi Patrick; I just picked up a used set. I do think that the hooker side pipe set is among most efficient exhaust systems for these cars altho you will want to design you own mufflers inside the side tubes as the hooker mufflers are said to be very restrctive. The other consideration is you constantly have to be very careful exiting the car that you don't burn the h#ll out of your legs or more importantly your ladys beautiful legs. My one complaint with this system is I feel it should be designed to fit tighter to the frame replacing the rocker mouldings. As they are, they fit out side of the rocker moldings creating extra distance to clear when exiting.

Hey 00, post a picture when your install is complete. I've thought of the same thing a time or two. The thought usually passes without harm, but you never know.

I'll do that, but it may not be right away, You may notice from my sig pic that I do have side pipes now. A vintage old "Thrush" set that I quite like so I'm not in too much of a hurry to do the swap but ya never know..........

theres been several threads about the hooker side pipes lately.

Can anyone clarify if the hooker pipes only come in 4 inch diameter, and if so is it possible to fit them under a pair of stock side pipe covers???

I want to put a pair on my 63, but have been holding off because i dont want my kids burning their legs on the exposed pipes.
