Can someone direct me to a good dial back timing light ? I tried Sears yesterday , all they had was a regular model. I would like to get a quality unit. Thanks; klen
Actron makes a good one. They also make Sears. Both cost around $70-80. You can probably find the Actron brand at any good parts store. I have the Sears and it works very nicely.
fairly suprised your local Sears did not have a Craftsman Timing Light with a dial back feature; such was the source for mine and it is a fairly robust, quality unit - I can recommend it. You can always get it online from Sears or another source.
Try www.actron.com - I have the #CP-7519 "Advance Timing Analyzer" (same guts as the Craftsman dial-back light, but I prefer the Actron case design), and it works great.
I have had 2 of the Sears dial backs. The first one had a bad plug. The second was very inaccurate. That was enough for me.
Instead I got a digital Innova dial back from Pep Boys for $100. In addition to displaying advance it also shows RPM. It is supposed to be +- 1 degree accurate and it sure seems to be. I really like it. I have also seen it at O'Reillys for about $120.
