Default Upper Shift Point with Powerglide?

Under WOT what rpm and/or speed should a 1967 327/300 shift into drive? Car is stock.

Upper shift point is controlled by the governor in the transmission and it shifts at 55 miles per hour.

That sounds right. Do you mean the vacuum modulator?

No. The modulator comes into play for all other part throttle shifts. The governor is the circular piece on the passenger side of the transmission. For Corvettes, the set point is 55 MPH. Corvette PG's are different than the garden variety PG's.

Thanks for that info. I had visions of making it a true "passing" gear at highway speed: shifting at 70mph. But I guess that is not doable.
