Default sidepipe heatshield refurbishing

I've tried searching the forums for info related to this but didn't find anything specific.

My sidepipe heatshelds (appear to be stock 67 factory) are dull with small pitts and scratches. I tried some metal polish on one of them, but it really didn't make much difference. What can I do to make them look as good as possible?

Thanks for any suggestions.

John

Refinishing stock side pipe covers is pretty labor intensive but can be done.

1) chemically strip the Bright Dip anodize

2) remove dents / sand out surface imperfections

3) machine buff to remove sanding marks

4) re-apply Bright Dip

5) repaint dull alluminum areas.

If you can send me some good pic of your problem areas, I can give you a ball park esimate.
