Default clutch question

A friend of mine has a 58 with a 350 and a 4 speed transmission. When the clutch is depressed it is hard to push and it makes a loud creaking sound. The sound is not coming from any of the linkages, it is coming from around the clutch itself. Does he need a new clutch or other parts?

Thanks alot

Seth

Does the noise occur with the engine running, or with it shut off?

It occurs with the engine off and with it running. When you push the clutch in, it gets to a certain point and it gets hard to push and makes the creaking noise. All of the external linkages are lubricated and there is no binding. The noise seems to be coming from the inside and I will have to take the transmission off, etc.,etc. to get to it.

Thanks

I would opt for a new clutch.....I don't think that this is generated by the fork....I believe this is the pressure plate or throw out bearing....maybe the link between fork and bearing.....however...the tranny needs to go out to check.
