I've misplaced my air cleaner during restoration. Is there a date code on the air cleaner base? What about a particular part number that would be specific to a 1966 327 / 300? If it is not dated coded, would it be the same as a 1965 327 / 350 base?
No, the air cleaner base isn't dated, and the base is different between a '66 327/300 (painted black, just a base) and a '65 327/350 (entire base is chrome, and includes the vertical wall to the lid all the way around, with air inlet openings).

The base for a '66 327/350 is painted black ....right?
I gotta go with Sam on this one, the 64-65 L79/L76 base was the chromie with the inlets cut out from the rear, but the 66 base for the 350 hp application, well I always thought it (and the 67 SB base) were different from the 64-65 SHP base . . . .
Yup, the '66 327/350hp base is plain black; the full chrome air cleaner was '64 L76 -'65 L76/L79 only. The original post asked about a '65 327/350 air cleaner vs. one for a '66 327/300.
trust me John, I did not mean to imply you got it wrong, I kinda think I would never win such a debate, most of what I know I learn from reading your posts, afer all
