Default Accelerator Swivel HELP!!!

I am trying to install the accelerator swivel on my 67 Coupe as guided by the assembly manual on page G178. I have the nut plate assembly as shown. After several attempts at turning it this way and that way I am thinking that drawing is wrong and the nut plate should be outside the car. If I take the part that gets bolted to the nut plate and put it in the interior side it is straight. Any other way....the way the book shows it is canted forward or down. Am I right in assuming the drawing is wrong and that I have riveted the nut plate on the wrong side of the fiberglass? When mounted from the interior it allows the pedal to contact the lever squarely. Any other way it is not straight. If any of you know either what I am doing wrong or knows the manual is wrong I would appreciate knowing or if you have any suggestions I am all ears! Thanks in advance. Larry

Well, I think I solved my dilema. After taking a break from working all afternoon trying to get it figured out I think I figured it out! After studying the nut plate configuration it had to go the way the book showed. My problem was trying to follow the pictures to the hilt ie. long side toward the tranny. Well that was wrong. After turning it around and putting it inside even though it appeared to be to the passenger side it now lines up in a straight line. So that is the story on this one. Sorry to bother all of you!

The swivel support installs from the transmission side of the tunnel, and the nut plate is riveted to the other (inside of car) side of the tunnel.

John, Thank you for the information. I just had the swivel support backwards and once I turned it around everything lined up! Got it bolted in now and the lever inside the car is at a slight angle but will accept the pedal! Thanks again! Larry
