Default Help with engine date code on 1965 327

I am trying to sell what I thought was a 1965 327/365hp engine transmission package. The on line auction buyers asked for the engine date code normally found on the right rear of the block. All I can see on mine is the raised letters CONV 1. Date codes are suppose to be a letter followed by numbers for day and year. I can't find it!
The casting number is 3782870 found on left rear of block. The engine code found on the right front is T0924HH. The heads are 3890462 with dates of I286-right and I66-left. With these numbers I am starting to believe it is a 1966 327/300hp?
Please let me know why I can't find the date code and what is the CONV 1?

Unable to add my photo of engine block, tell me how?

The heads dated Sept of 66 could make it a 67 if they are original to that block

the engine code of HH makes it an L76 327/365 motor with 4sp tranny. That means the block can't be a '67 as they didn't offer it in the Vette in '67. The HH desiginates it as a '65 L76 motor. The same motor in '64 was coded as RE. The L76 327/365 was only available in '64 and '65 so we know at least the block is from '65.

the correct casting number on '65 SB heads is 3782461 for all SB motors so you have the incorrect heads on the motor.

the big problem though is your complete engine code of T0924HH makes it a "wrong" motor for a '65 Vette. This translates to:
T=Tonawanda, 0924=Sept 24th, HH=327/365
Tonawanda blocks with a casting number of 3782870 such as yours is NOT correct for any 1965 corvette application. All motors came from the Flint plant which would show a first letter in the code of "F", not "T".

It looks as if you have a '65 327/365 motor that had the heads swapped out at some point and that came from a car other than a vette.

This information is a bummer! Sounds like I have mix and match. So the block is cofigured as a 365hp? The year is 1965, and I can prove this only with the engine code?
As for the heads, with them still installed can I tell if they have the 2.02 intakes?
I have the trans and bellhousing numbers, if I give you these acan you tell me if they are from a 1965 corvette?

Thank you very much , to all of you, you have been very helpful!!!

Default Bellhousing and Trans #s

Pat,
The bellhousing #s for a 1965 is #3858403 and is dated month-day in a small circle.

Muncies for the year 1965 had the casting # 3851325.The assembly date begins with the letter "P" (Muncie) followed month-day digits. Example
P0101 Muncie Jan 1. The tailhousing is a 429 and the speedmeter cable is on the driver side. The side cover is a 707.

Thanks for the bellhousing and trans numbers, mine match! At least something matches on this car. Will crawl under to check the tail housing and differential this weekend.

So, I have a 1965 convertible with 65 trans and bellhousing, heads from a 66 and a non-corvette block that is built to be 365hp.

Any more input to the missing date code on the block?

I am trying to sell the engine and trans together. The details are in the previous posts. I have pictures, tell me how to post pictures here or give me emails to send them to.
The engine trans package is still in the car, come hear it run and drive. My digital camera has a movie mode with sound I could try it if you live too far away.
I am in the California's central valley, very close to Stockton, CA.
I will switch this post over to the far sale column.
Thanks again to all of your reply's, very very informative and helpful, great list here!!
