Not clear as to what your removing, the entire dash or just the cluster. Either way I would remove the steering wheel, make take 2 mins to take of , so that you can work with no interference. I removed the cluster without dropping the steering column. A BIG PAIN, but I did. Looking back, it would have been a heck of alot easier to just go ahead and drop the column (I ended up removing the column anyway later). If the cluster is not coming out after dropping the column, screws, cables, ignition, and light switch as well as oil pressure line, than something must be binding.

Steve, I have done several of these by just dropping the steering column instead of removing it as outlined by adirondakncrs article. Just seperate the rag joint instead of pulling the steering column out of the joint. The steering wheel is still going to be an obsticle, but you will have plenty of room to remove the cluster. Make sure you cover the steering column to prevent the cluster from scratching it as it will be sitting on the column during removal and installatiion. Oh, one more thing. I remove the drivers seat to make working under the dash a little easier. Good Luck.

Assume you are talking about the instrument cluster? Although it is possible to remove the cluster by dropping the column, etc., you'll really wish you had the column, wheel and driver's seat removed and out of the way when you attempt to re-install things.

I might add... removing and re-installing the cluster is more intimadating then anything else. Take your time, it can turn out to be a rewarding experience. It helps to have a wiring diagram handy and a pic of the back of the cluster with locations of where everything goes. You can see this in the Sept. issue of Corvette Enthusiast.
