Whats a fair price to align my 65. I'm getting prices all over the place but the one place thats been recomended to me was a little high, I think. I'd like to hear what you think and then I'll tell you what they want to charge.
I paid about $130 for my `65 at a shop that was experienced with early Vettes and I think it was well worth it. Instead of using any tire store that specializes in cheap/quick jobs, I chose a shop that does alignments as their main business. A good test is to ask if they have Vette alignment shims on hand.
I just had my '65 done a few weeks ago. It was done by a shop that also knows these old cars. Took me a while to find a place that was recommended and I could trust with the car figuring most of the basic tire shops don't know these classics very well. They charged me $96.00 but I supplied the shims i needed which I ordered from LICS (approx $40.00). Whether or not it would have been a higher charge from the shop if i hadn't supplied my own shims I don't know but it probably would have been as they would have charged me themselves for the shims as "needed parts".
I Paid $169 to align front and rear and He also fixed a tire that he noticed had a nail in it. I supplied the shims and I think it was a reasonable price here in the east. I am very happy
Thanks for the replies. I guess I've been out of the loop for awhile when it comes to price for this stuff. The place I went was highly recomended but wanted $225 at first but came down to $179 , a little high but in the ball park from what your telling me. So thanks again.
