Sorry if this has been covered before. Long story short, both the buckets on my '67 won't fully raise. The motors are OK; It's an adjustment issue. How to adjust (for the compleat idiot)? Thanks, Bob in beautiful Lovettsvile, VA.
Are you sure it is an adjustment and not the switch? Mine were very difficult to open completely although they closed just fine. It turned out to be that the switch was corroded
If you have your AIM handy, check on UPC 12, Sheet A3.
You are interested in item number 43 "Stop", p/n 3826291 and item number 42 "Screw" p/n 3827432. Each stop has two of the screws. These screws are the actual stops that are the adjustment in the Y stops.
You can see thes adjustment screw when yoiu look onder the uper bodt panel, use a mirror. There are no locking nuts on the bolts, the threads are an interference fit (tight). Use a 7/16 wrench to adjust. It is easier with the motors off the bucket pivot shaft.
Safety thought! Don't forget to lock or chock the hood open when you have your hands up under the nose. If the hood ever got bumped or a gust of wind hit it, you would be in DEEP stuff. Slip a bolt through the hinge hole, spin a nut on and go to work.
Adjusted the both stops to fully threaded in and both buckets are now just barely vert. (And oh by the way, working with a mirror and a U-joint socket in that space was a real trip). Situation greatly improved .....BUT....the headlights on both sides have to be fully adjusted up to get anywhere near a reasonable aim. This is the first time I've fooled with the lights since I had a new front clip put on. Clearly, there's something more basic than the bucket adjust that's not right here. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Ox in Beautiful Lovettsville VA.
Ox,
Here's a thought, just bring here and pull into my garage for a day or two. We'll get it done.
Oh, by the way, I'm in suburban Chicago. See ya soon.
