Default Dash/Console Repaint C-2

I would like to repaint the dash and console on my 65 Vette. Do I need to take apart all the dash?

Depends on how good you want it to look. Im going to paint mine with the dash out but Im also replacing the pads. Krylon 1613 seems to be the paint of choice.

Default paint specs?

Thinking about doing the same thing.

The paint, if I'm not mistaken is black semi gloss....LIC sells it for 10.00...wonder what makes it so special, and why is Krylon better?

Just curious.....

Because Krylon costs $2.67 and can be purchased at any Wal-Mart.

You could remove the windshield if you like. All kidding aside, to do the job right you need to take the dash out and take it apart. Get new clips for the pads and rivets for the door jams. If you dont want to take it out than mask it off the best you can but like you said its going to be tricky to get the back area by the windshield and you may not be happy with the results. a third option is to leave it in and remove the pads, radio, clock, speaker grill, etc. but if your going that far I would just pull it out. The choice is yours.
