Default '62 Distributor shaft

I need the main distributor shaft for my 62 with 250 HP. All the vendors I have been in touch with sell a shaft that has the drive gear held on with a 3/16 roll pin. The original 62 /250 used a shaft with a 1/16 roll pin. Anyone know of a source for the original style shaft? Thanks, Bob

Frankly (if it was mine), I would convert it over to the 3/16" roll pin. 1/16" is really weak for the application (since it drives both the oil pump and dist.). Must of been a reason for Chevy to change over!

Drilling out the gear to match the new shaft should be easy enough, or just get a new gear!

Never saw a dist. with a 1/16" pin.

No Delco distributor ever used a 1/16" dia. roll pin - they were all 3/16" (I have the drawings).

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllll Johnny, guess what? I'm holding one in my hand right now (well, actually I'm not, it's lying beside the keyboard so that I can type). It's a 1110985, which is a 62 only mechanical advance, dual point (for the 340hp engine). It's a virgin dist with the small pin.

And Claf,
I must agree 100%, just drill out the gear to accept a 3/16 pin, and go on down the road. Nooooooooooooooobody, not even an NCRS judge is going to EVER see that pin (unless, of course, when your car is being judged, you say "hey, wait a minute, let me pull out my dist so that you can judge the pin in the dist gear").

Fascinating - the drawing shows a 3/16" pin and the same gear used on all the other drawings; maybe it was made on a Monday
