I'm sorry to beat a dead horse but I went to Advance Auto to get plugs for my '61. Their computer said R43S for my base 283ci/ 230hp. I believe this has been talked about before with similar plugs but I wanted to be sure. Is there an issue I need to address with these plugs? Thanks Wib
I believe your owners manual will say you need nonresistor plugs. If you still have an original coil, resistor plugs and resistor wires will overload it.
I still have a box or two of ac 43s or 44s (s means extended tip) plugs around the garage. They are also for sale in the NCRS Driveline. If you have a replacement coil or metal core wires, use whatever works - and don't worry.
I think the saying goes something like "garbage in, garbage out". They may have a great computer but whoever put that information in it has no business in that business. 43's have a place in race engines or as a bandaid in a terminally lean engine.
