I have restored a 427 '67 conv and am not sure on the proper sequence for lowering the top.It seems to put a great deal of stress on the back of the doors. Thanks Dan.
Lower windows, unclamp at windshield, unclamp at rear, lift rear of top and swing forward, open top compartment lid fully, grasp front of top and rear bow, lift front header and swing rearward, allow top to go all the way down, flip front latches rearward, close compartment lid. Good idea to use a towel in the fold across the rear window before you lower the top all the way so it doesn't get scratched.
To raise it, open compartment lid, grasp front header and rear bow, raise top fully with front header laying on the windshield and rear bow pulled forward, close compartment lid, fold rear bow down, seat guide pins in holes at front and latch tight, then push down on rear corners of rear bow until the pins latch in the receptacles.
one unfortunate outcome of attaching the removable hardtop and leaving the convertible in the raised position is the shiney new paint on the trunk lid can be scuffed .. by the seals .. Corvette Central sells a shield to protect the paint from being rubbed .. you might want to consider this if new paint is a part of the restoration..
