Default ignition shield question

Does anyone sell a complete ignition shielding kit for a 1964 roadster? Thank you in advance.

swap meets are also a good place to get it. Just know hwat you're buying. There's a difference between the years for the horizontal pieces. If you don't want to take a chance, go to www.corvette-paragon.com and pick out what you want....

Good luck...

Oh but how expensive.. I just replaced the dist cover man 150.00 just for it.. I'm glad that most of mine was there when I bought my car... If anyone needs a used dist cover I got one in a box now.. Almost all of the parts houses have everything you want/need...
Does anyone know if these kits come with all the brackets that he will need?

Dave.....

Dave... I've never seen it as a "kit" before but there really aren't that many parts. 8 manifold bracktes, 10 - 12 wing nuts, 4 horizontial and 2 vertical shields and the cover and possibly cover screw. The wire brackets are more than likely there just to keep the wires off of the engine. Maybe Corvette Central would put it together as a kit but the pieces do differ from year to year and that could be expensive for them to package and keep stock for. But hey, I'm sure someone out there has probablly put a package together.
IMO, finding these pieces in a swap meet is the less expensive way to go. You have to get your hands dirty but sometimes you can find some real gems out there. Several years ago, I got a cover, verts and horiz all for $75. I had to do a lot of clean up on them but they were all original and they cleaned up just great.

I just remember that I seemed to miss a few things when I was getting mine all straight. The four wire clips for the oil pan come to mind.. Also don't forget the rubber insulators.. I really liked the fact that they have the wire number molded into them to make you remember to seperate ugh.. is it 1 and 4 on the drivers side and ahhh 2 and 6 on the left side.. Any way it looks great once you get it done.. And really it isn't as bad as some make it seem to change plugs.. Just get you a good set of gloves because the heat shields are sharp.... Oh also the lower "V" are a nice touch...It looks like 500.00 will get everything you need from a quick look..The kit ZIP lists for 379.00 plus heat shields 27.95 plus lower "V" 49.50 X2..... Dave..

How tough is it to install the lower metal shielding pieces with the engine installed in the frame . .? ..

Are you talking about the lower V's if so not bad you just have to remove one of the motor mount bolt b/c the V is connected here at the front and at the rear to a bung in the block. To install any of these pieces is not bad just time consuming.. Dave..

Ok, thanks Dave. The shielding was already taken off my car when I bought it. I'm leaning towards installing the repro shielding. Sure looks unique and so Corvette ..

HI Mark, Rear suspension is done, working on the front now. After that, I'm going to add a little more power; redressing the engine to a 365hp configuration w/LT-1 solid cam. Still thinking about a Keisler 5 spd. Gotta save up a few bucks for that. Should be all back together next spring. No paint this year. will work the bugs out to the chassis and maybe paint next winter.

Sure, I'll come down once I get her done. Will be a good shakedown cruise.

Yes - all the major suppliers sell complete kits (Paragon, Corvette Central, LICS, etc.).
