What is a "fuelie? I had a 67 Coupe in 67 and 68, and just won a 63 Coupe from the Huntingtown, MD raffle, but I am not familiar with the term. Also, this car did not come with an owners manual, so be prepared for more questions as time goes on until I get up to speed.
Indicates that the Vette has a Fuel Injection engine (rather than a carburetor) to supply fuel. This is a mechanical fuel injection system that was used on the higher HP engines.
rgwebb,
Big congratulation on the win, we all dream of this happening. Now that you found us, the Corvette Forum I mean, your in for a fun ride. Ask all the question you feel like, post pic of the car and above all else, drive that thing. It's ready for you to have many miles of smiles.

but if you find you don't care for the car, I'm always interested in a 63 s/w
Thanks for the info and the comments. I am understandably ecstatic about winning the car and cannot believe that there is actually a mid-year Corvette in my garage again. Don't expect me to be looking for a buyer any time soon!

So you had a mid-year before, tell us more. Dennis
In 1965-1966 I was an Army pilot in Viet Nam. Just before rotating back to the states, I flew to Saigon with $4400 worth of Vietnamese piastres (about a half a million at the time as I recall). I went to a General Motors dealer there and ordered a new 327/300 Lindale blue '67 coupe, to be picked up in Nov. '66 at the Corvette plant in St. Louis. I picked it up 2 days after it was completed. Anyway, I sold it in October 1968 because I had to return for another tour in Viet Nam starting Jan. 69.
Question: Does anyone have an idea of how to track down the VIN # of that car? I no longer have any of the paperwork and a call to my insurance company was fruitless. My next try is going to be the Corvette plant to see if their records go back that far. I am really interested in where it got to and what it's fate has been. If someone will tell me how to post a picture here I will try to post one of the that one and this 63 I now have.
Unfortunately, the Corvette plant is long-gone (it's a parking lot now), and so are all the records of St. Louis-built Corvettes. I was in-country in '63 and '64 (C.O., 114th Avn. Co. - gunships).

Congrats on the car win!! I know you'll enjoy it.
I've got a similar story on the Vietnam Corvette syndrome. I was at Cam Rahn in '66 and '67 when the Saigon GM salesman came to visit. Came very close to ordering a '67 but lacking all the cash and wanting to to to engineering school when I got out, forewent the new car order and returned to St. Louis where I bought a '63 340hp vert, 4.11 4-speed, both tops, 24,xxx miles for $2,000. Likewise, I'd like to know where the car is today, but not much success in tracking it.
Good to hear your first Corvette story, welcome to the forum also. Lots of good information here, and best wishes in tracking your 'vette!!!
PS My need for glasses wouldn't let me pilot, I went to rotary wing maintenance school in Ft. Rucker instead to become a crewchief.

Congratulation on the win!! You now have an example of one of the most coveted small block "Rays" on Planet earth. Tell us more about the car (color, options etc...)
What was the VIN? Maybe someone on the forum has it.
Delta Co., 1st Bn., 8th Inf., 4th Inf. Div. Clash of '69. I also finished engineering school on the GI bill. No money for new Corvettes at the time.
Don't have the VIN on mine, it was a Silver Blue w/ Navy Blue interior, bought it from a guy who owned a place in Gas Light Square in St. Louis (a thriving night spot in 1967). That's about all the info I have on mine. (3d Aviation Bn, 3d Infantry Div. in Germany, 35th Engineer Group in VietNam).
Big congrats. I'll bet it was the first car raffle ticket you bought right? I've spent more than I care to remember on tickets for various raffles to win a mid-year or other vette.
