Default engine question

I bought a 454 off of the internet. was sold to me with the understanding that it had a "knock" and that was why it was being dumped. cool, as i was taking it apart i noticed that the lifters for #6 cylinder where stuck. they had to be pulled out with a pair of pliers. I'm talking both the intake and exhaust. the other lifters came out fine. when i got them out i didn't see anything different about them nor did i see anything different in that cam lobe. besides it was intake AND exhaust. any ideas why this might be

Usually high milage engines will have a farnish build up on the shank of the lifter , that builds up on the space between the cam lobe and bottom of the lifter bore. That's what makes them come out hard.

Check lifter bore dia. on #6. Maybe on the tight side and caused the "knock".
