Coil Problems WTF???
Well, I stopped to fill up on the way home from a great afternoon cruise, and I went to leave the gas station, It wouldn't start right away. (read no engine run, NOT unable to crank).
Well when I got home I went to check the spark. Took off the distributor shield and was checking the coil wire to make sure it was in tight. When I reinserted it into the coil, I heard a wierd suction sound. I removed the coil wire again and looked at it closely and the end seemed wet. Dipped my finger into the top of the coil..... oil. This is no cheap discount auto parts coil either its an Accel Super Stock.
Anyway, replaced the coil with a spare I had on the shelf, and she fires right up.
I have to deal with bad coils before, but never had one leak like that. Just wondered if anyone else has ever had the same experience.
I had the same problem with a Mallory Promaster coil except the case cracked and all of the oil leaked out on the firewall. What a mess. When I checked the coil, it was too hot to touch. So muche for high-dollar coils being better than factory stuff!!

I believe it is there for vibration and/or heat transfer. A coil will work even though it is leaking.
