Default Side Mirror

My side mirror is very loose. When I close the door it moves and moves when driving. It is not the part that atttaches to the door it is the mirror itself that moves. Anyway to fix it?

I had the same problem and fixed it by using some "red" locktight. Just put some in the ball area where the mirror pivots, adjust it to where you want it and let it do it's thing. You can still move it after the locktight dries.

Good Luck...

There's been a recent thread on this with various methods suggested, some fixes accomplished by removing the glass and re-staking the flat spring clamp on the ball behind the mirror glass. A little searching on this or the "other" forum should turn up the thread, or maybe someone will chime in with its location!!

Default is there a way to dismantle the mirror ?

to add to the question my mirror does the same thing .. slowly shifts on the ball as the car drives .. is there a thread or some knowing person who can shed light on how to dismantle the mirror into it's various pieces once it is off the car?
the arm that the mirror mounts on needs re-chroming .. on first look it is a puzzle how the thing could ever come apart..

The glass is held in by a snap ring. The spit in the ring can be hard to see but it is there. If you push the glass down you can relieve the pressure on the snap ring and remove it. Be carefull not to looose the 3 springs that apply the outward pressure on the glass.

I use super glue. Have to on my rear view mirror and both my sides.

Move the mirror to a position best out of the way so you can see the ball. Put a drop of super glue on the ball. You will have time to sit in the car after the application and adjust the mirror to the correct position. An hour or so or days later you will still be able to move the mirror to a new adjustment but it will be tight. If should last for about 3 or more months.

Super glue is clear. Loctight is colored...

Not sure why the replacement mirrors do this.. but they do.
