My 435 67 vette had a miss after a complete restoration. I finally found a bad transistor in the TI amplifier and it ran perfectly for a while.I had tried a set of Accel 8 mm wires and the car was fine. When I reinstalled the new repro dated braided wires the car began to miss again. I have been told by some corvette acquaintances that these braided wires are garbage and only good for judging. I am both perplexed and pissed. I can't believe that Corvette parts suppliers would sell such an inferior product for a place as important as the engine ignition. These wires are difficult to install with the ignition shielding properly setup. Any one have any similar problems? Thanks Dan.
I use the Accel blue braided 8003B wires for BB engines with a lifetime warranty. Engine heat (on an A-C car) will kill them, but Accel has replaced mine 4 times in 12 years.
When I put a new crate engine in my car a few years ago, I used braided covered spark plug wires. The engine never ran well above 5,000 RPM, but I wasn't sure why. By about 5,000 miles, the engine began to miss and I eventually traced the problem to the spark plug wires. When I replaced the braided wires with conventional high performance wires, the engine ran great. Perhaps its too much to expect a wire with high voltage in the center and a convenient ground on the outside to last very long.

My braided wires are 13 years old and have never been a problem. I did upgrade the board in the TI amplifier (New card from M&H www.wiringharness.com - Part # 32270 TRANSISTOR IGNITION REPLACEMENT MODULE, REPLACES ORIGINAL CIRCUIT BOARD IN AMPLIFIER $146.00 ) plus I installed NGK 4722 ( $1.68 each at Advance Auto Parts) spark plugs. My car runs smooth and strong.
