Default New wheels

I have been looking for a new set of wheels for my 63. I really would prefer not to but anything stock like knockoffs or hubcaps. The trouble with finding new wheels is that they all show the brake and i have old rusted drums. I would like to switch out these old drums with new disc brakes but i cant seem to find any. Does any one know of any out there? Also i would like to know your opinion on what type of wheels to buy or just what you think would look good. I was thinking a set off AC wheels from Team III?
thanks Nate

Default Disc Conversion

I have been pricing out disc conversions for my 63 as well. Van-Steel has a front conversion for just under $1500.00. (Almost $3K for all four corners). Right now I choose to sink all the bucks into areas that I will be less likely to disassemble in the near future.

I have learned that 65'-67' disc brakes will bolt directly to the 63'. Also, I have chosen to go with my 4 wheel drum, but with the dual master cylinder setup.

My drums will not show with my current wheels, but in the event I do change the wheels, I am going to have the drums powder coated black.

Popping the drums off and refinishing them would be easy and cheap. Unless you're going road racing, the drums are all you need and they also allow a much wider choice of wheels that will fit.

How about vintage Western Wheel 30-Spoke Turbines? I have them on my '64, and with the center spinners, many think they are Corvette knock-offs. The pick shows the rear so you can see how little drum actually shows. If you get the centers and spokes polished and paint the inserts, they look sweet.

And, they are 7" wide with 3-3/4" backspacing so are the perfect size for the Midyears. You will need a 1/8" spacer to run Corvette disks, and that is exactly what I do on the front that has been converted over to '75 parts. Best of all, you can (or could) pick up a set at the swap meet for about $100. (Think I paid $80 for mine.)

Default Here's a shot of the craggars

I also used black paint to paint the drums black..and used the 15x6 craggars.. cragar says a disc brake will fit under the cragar if you trim.. you may have to trim a touch..they say they will fit on the 15x6 not sure of any other size.. so go for it

The wheels are made by team III. I belive that they are origanally made for replica cobras. I thought they might look nice on my 63. Anyway heres the sitehttp://www.cobracountry.com/team3/home.html

I just put on a set of American Racing polished salt flat specials. A nice alternative to spokes.
