I have a simple question. Why when you look at the 1965-1969 Corvettes listed at Proteam Corvette, do they all have 4.11 gears? Come on... Not all the cars that they have came originally with 4.11.
Countless numbers of Corvettes have had the diffs changed or gears swapped over the years; back in the 60's and 70's, LOTS of them got 4.11's that weren't "born" with them. 4.11's were the "hot setup" for lots of Corvettes that were "ridden hard and put away wet".
I understand that over the years cars get played with and gears and such are changed. But we have all heard stories are Proteam and I just think it was quite odd.
I purchased my 66 big block coupe from pro-team a few years ago. It was adverstised to have a 3.36 gear ratio. After I received the car I found that it actually had 4.11 gears.
Or $0.25 a gallon, with price wars as low as $0.19 in SoCal!
Boy, Louie, that's whatcha' call 'dating' yourself .. ! ..
The cheapest I remember it was $.23 in S Cal (1969) .. Up into early 1973 the cheapest price was still around $.29 at some cheapy stations. Then the boom dropped later that same year .. ! .. Gas lines - 'odd/even' gas days...........I still remember getting up at 6 am on a Sunday morning just to go get in line for GAS .. ! ..

C'mon guys, knock it off. Quit teasing us guys who can only remember when gas was .80cents a gallon. You guys probably got hi-test for a quarter too.
That's what happens when one gets 'old' .. You remember how it used to be .. ! .. IIRC I think the Chevron 'white pump' high test stuff went for $.38 a gallon .. ? .. Circa 1968 .. ? .. I forget the octane rating but I believe it was easily over 100 ..
John
100 octane Sunoco 260 at 33.9. Thats what we ran in our '57 Chev. hobby car in 1970. We had to, it had 12.5:1 Jahns pistons 1/8 over. Cheat cheat be hard to beat.

Yeah, John, I guess I am older than I used to be, but I do have some nice memories of driving in Caliph. before it got so crowded and expensive. The bad part of the 1973 gas crunch was that I drove a 63 fuelie coupe with a 4:56 posi. The good part was that I worked for Texaco and could check out a company car. Which I then drove 5 blocks to where I lived and siphoned the gas into my Vette, added octane booster (and retarded the timing etc.), and I was good to go. Gas lines, what gas lines? How sweet that was, screwing an oil company that was screwing us!
