I have looked at several suppliers, and it seems that no one sells a reproduction steering wheel for a 64. All I see are teak wheels for later years, but no woodgrain plastic. Is there a source or a way to repair the cracks in mine. As always, thanks to the forum for the info.
Yours can be repaired, there's a contact in Hemming's magazine that does repair and restoration on all types of wheels, woodgraiin included. Don't remember the name, but I've seen wheel restoration recently discussed on this or the "other" forum. Maybe someone will chime in with a source shortly, thought I had it bookmarked but I don't.
Not to hijack your thread but what is the differences between the steering wheels from 1964-1967? I'm just curious to find out the actual one that I just pulled off... Thanks guys.. Dave..

No difference in 64-66, but the '67 wheel consisted of two "layers" at the hub, the left spoke, center hub, and right spoke were made from one piece of material, while the bottom spoke was a separate piece and at the hub was "layered" onto the hub made by the two side spokes. Probably done as a cost savings measure, cheaper to make from two separate pieces of material rather than the one single piece as previously done. No difference functionally, and no appearance difference when installed, although the two different wheels take different hubs to mount.
Is there not anyone on the forum that has repaired their own plastic wood grain wheel? I keep waiting for someone to post some info or how-to details, but I haven't seen anything yet, maybe I've missed it! Of all the complex projects I’ve seen postings about on here, its strange there has been no steering wheel projects. It must be much more difficult then I expect! Is it the finish or color or what, cause it can’t be too hard to patch the crack with epoxy. Also Virgina Vettes sales them-$295 outright w/o a core or $225 exchange.
Each year at Carlisle, I see Gary's Steering Wheel Repair or Restoration. I believe he is located in PA. Does someone else here on the forum recognize this.

I don't know about the wood grain aspect but I got my '57 Chevy steering wheel repaired, cracks and all, at Koch's in California for $175. They did a good job and were timely.
