New engine project
Bought a '71 -010 350 4 bolt truck short block today and have two technical questions. I have two 327 engines to scrounge parts from. What parts are NOT interchangeable in this list. Flywheel, starter, fuel pump, harm balancer and front cover? Also, this is a standard bore with flat top pistons with flycuts (std) and will use -291 heads which are 64 cc's and with regular felpro gaskets. What will be the approximate compression ratio? It's going to be an interesting winter. Thanks, Bob

Everything should interchange, depending on how the block is drilled for the starter bolts. The production 327/300's with 4-eyebrow flat-tops and 291 heads were spec'd at 10.25:1 with .019"-thick steel shim gaskets, and generally measured about 0.3-0.5 points less than the advertised spec.
