Default Suspension Weak Link?

I had my 66 inspected by a claimed expert some few months back. one of the things he noted was a weld somewhere in the area of my front passenger wheel started to come undone. he commented that this is a common weak spot for both second and third gen corvettes. control arm area maybe? anyone familiar with this? Im going to try to crawl up under there again and get this taken care of if there really is an issue. anyone had this problem before or know what this guy is talking about?

There are two areas (at least) that I have heard of. The first is the bracket that welds to the front crossmember, where the lower control arm bolts up. The brackets are spot welded to the crossmember through openings in the bracket and if your car has been hit, or hit something, or run over a curb, or just has metal fatigue - these can start to separate. The other is around the spring pocket in the frame. I remember that over the years the pieces that come together were lapped together for assembly in two different ways - one supposedly stronger than the other. Other than that I don't remember much of the details. However, I've seen pictures of frame cracks in this area around the pocket. I think Corvette Fever had an article on this probably 4 or 5 years ago.
