I know that I've seen the thread before but I can't find it or remember the difference.. Could someone please jogg my memory on the difference between the SB and BB cross shafts.. Thanks.. Dave..
Do you mean half shafts from Diff to trailing arms? If so the big block were supposedly shot peened when manufactured. How anyone can tell one from the other on almost 40 year old parts now, I don't know. Also, the U-joints on the Diff side are secured with machined caps instead of the usual straps.
I'm referencing the cross shaft for the clutch I guess a better name that I've heard it called is the "Z bar". I'm just not sure that I have the correct one installed for my SB...Dave.

Commonly referred to as the bell crank, the difference between the bb and the sb is the angle between the two arms. IIRC the angle between them on the big block version is slightly more than the sb (but can't recall the actual angle differences at the moment).
The angle between the two arms on the SB Z-Bar is 158*; if you place it on a flat surface and hold one arm parallel to the surface, the angle of the other arm will show as 22*. Dunno what the BB angle is - don't have one to measure.

FFIW my car had a small block in it with a big block bell crank (it was that way when I bought it). I bought a SB bell crank but never used it. Now I have a BB in it.
