i think i'm just going to clean these SS headers and polish them a little. not going to go mirror bright. what do you think

I wouldn't worry about it b/c even SS turns afterr it's been heated up so it would be a lot of work for nothin. I thought about doing it when I got my new 2.5 side pipes a few months ago. Now after looking at them I see that it would have been a waste because they are still shiny but have a light brown tint to them... Dave..

I wouldn't bother, they are going to take on a brown tarnish like the color between the welds on the collector no matter what you do now.
BTW, if it bothers you, the tarnish comes off easily with a little bit of white vinegar with salt dissolved in it. Just make sure you thoroughly rinse with water after this "treatment."
