Default headlight motor switch

has anyone ever had one apart? much trouble to clean inside?

It is a very simple sub-assembly. The parts are shown below.



I do not remember how it came apart but it was easy - I think you just had to release the clips.

Dave is correct about how to disassembling it.

I had a problem with my switch where the headlights would not come up consistently each time. So, when I disassembled it, I noticed that the four contact posts were contaminated. I filed them to clean them up but, there was not enough material on the posts to make good contact when the switch pressed and so the headlights would work. Therefore, I had to replace the switch. So, my point is that you may need to replace the switch.
