Default What might this Holley carb be worth?

First off, hello everyone!

I just recently picked up a 396 for my 70 chevelle project and noticed that the Holley carb it has on it has a GM part number.

The number on the carb is 3868826.

I found a site that gave me this info:

Holley R3124A #3868826: 396ci, 425hp

I think it may be off of a Z-16 chevelle or big block vette. I was hoping someone here could give me an idea what it may be worth, and point me in the right direction of maybe selling it.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

The good news is this the correct carb for a 1965 396 425 HP Corvette. If it has an original coded date, it is worth a lot of money. Bab news is, if it has a later service date, the value drops a lot. Look for a 3 digit code under the ID codes. An original date code should start with a 4 or 5 first digit for the model year. Then if a 4, second digit should be 0,A,B. If a 5, second digit should be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 . A service dated carb would have different code. Service dates after 1972 would be 4 digits. Also an original carb would have small unfiltered inlets to the float bowls. A service carb usually has larger filtered inlets. An original carb in good condition probably would be worth over $1000. A service carb would probably worth a few hundred. My estimates are just that, ESTIMATES.

Hey, thanks for the info. Things aren't looking as good now though...

The carb has this info.

3868826
LIST 3124
801

I guess the date code would mean it's a '68? Either way, an older "service" carb pre-1972??

I forgot to add that after the # there is a 2 letter code. I don't have the carb in front of me, but I want to say that it is CS. I'll check after work, and post it.
