1956-59 Oil Pan
Hi All,
Just throught I would ask, I realize the chances are not good, But nothing ventured--- so to speak, I met and talked to Ed Lepelis this past Summer at Carlisle PA, Corvette show.
I'm looking for a original or an original type tthat I can clone for my 59 Vette, One that I could clone would be fine.
If anyone have any tips/leads please let me Know.
Thanks in advance ,

Hey, Hugh,
See photos of an NOS Chevy pan I bought at a swap meet many years ago. It was represented to me as a 56 pan mainly because of the oil dip stick holder on the passenger side, as were original 56's, at least the early ones as I understand.
More than likely it is for a truck or marine engine but you can be the judge of that. Is this something that would work for you? It has been in storage for at least 20+ years and has some minor surface rust from exposure to moist air in central Texas.
If it is something that you can use, I'll take $200/OBO + shipping.
Due to size of photos, may need a second post.

Hi Larry,
Hi Larry,
Thank You, I do have interest, I was gone for the New yeras hoilday and Just returned home. The pan looks like the early 1956 to Vin #1700? Is that true? I need the pan without the side entry dip stick . I made a mistake title of my inital note and should have left off 1956.
The pan looks great!
Thanks,
Hugh

Would entertain any interest/offer from anyone else in need of oil pan.

Hugh,
Many years ago when I got the pan, I was naive enough to believe it was a pan for a 56 Corvette; however, I am now convinced it was for some other engine.
You can see that the pan will accomodate a dip stick on the driver's side as it has the extrusion where the block dip stick goes in.
If the pan is useable from all other perspectives, the dip stick holder and the other outlet/inlet (oil cooler connection?) could be removed since they are riveted onto the pan and the two holes welded shut from the inside or the outside.
From all other appearances, the pan appears to be a correct period pan for some C-1 and C-2 engines.
Let me know what you want to do.

Hi Larry,
Please stand by, I've got to get with a My buddy see if they can weld the pan up for me. To make it right for my 59 I would also have to fill up two for the side ribs on each side of the pan. 59 only had two ribs a 6 1/4" and a 1 1/4 inch rib. This pan may have been used on a Boat? But not sure
I will get back to you.
