Used Flaming River Tilt column for '67
For Sale: I updated my steering column, and no longer need this used early production Flaming River tilt steering column. I bought this unit a couple of years after FR came out with these. This unit required me to harvest the mounting flange off my factory column, and weld it to the new one. Also, it doesn't have a provision for collapse, and also won't accept a '67 steering hub. It was unpainted, and after welding, I double coated it with Krylon 1613 semi-gloss black (before it got hard to get, LOL). The unit is in good condition mechanically, but there are a few scratches and rub spots in the black paint here and there. Looks like I scribed a wheel TDC mark too deeply thru the masking tape once as well ... see the pictures for all the uglies. The unit will be complete as sold by FR, and uses the factory mounting location and dash escutcheon as shown. Their billet tilt, turn signal, and 4-way flasher handle kit will be included, as well as the horn contact, and what passes for an instruction book. You will need to invent a steering hub that works with your wheel (I reused the FR one I used on this column), and obtain their turn signal adapter harness that connects their flat later-GM connector to our curved Corvette connector. Asking $275 shipped to your door in the lower 48 United States. Feel free to PM me for more info, and the first one to PM me they want it gets its. Thanks for looking!! SOLD!! SOLD !!

Any idea if this would work on a '65?

Hi! It could be made to work, but it's not a "bolt-in" ... The '67 has a different pedal box/column support assembly than '63-'66, so either you would need to invent the semi-rare '67 pedal assembly and bolt that in, or you could carefully remove the '67 support I have welded on, and use the '65 column mounting scheme. Other issues, which are not insurmountable, are the 4-way hazard light feature (don't think '65 has those, but may be wrong), and the fact that '67 has a 1" steering shaft diameter, as opposed to the 3/4" diameter in '63-'66 ... That could be overcome by using a '67 rag-joint, or at least a '67 firewall half of a rag joint ... All in all, probably more work than you desire ...
