Default Complete rebuilt 65 396/425

Price drop $8,500 obo

I am selling a complete original 396 engine. This is the real deal. Air cleaner to oil pan. Also features the original redone heads. $8,500 plus shipping. obo
It includes and original carb with the original bowls that also has been completely rebuilt. ( very hard to find )
I have many more pics so please ask if you need something.
Any parts that we have that belong with this motor will be included.
Also available is the bell housing, $150, the shifter, $150, and an original rebuilt 4 speed trans ( numbers match the engine ), New in the box radiator $680
I will be happy to make a package deal. Please ask.
These items are for sale because we discovered that the trim tag was a reproduction so went the retro rod route.

Sorry about that. I can't believe I didn't post the stamp pad pics. Let me know if you need anything else.

So, how does the pad look? Any doubt of it's authenticity?

Do you want us to comment publicly if this is an original stamp?

I would say with confidence that this is a restamped/restoration stamping.

I did notice the "digs" but I thought that was just from ware and tear over the years. ( something fell on it ) I can also tell you that everything else, p/n, date codes all line up. That includes the block, heads and intake. What else makes you think it is a re-stamp?
I have known of this block for about 20 yrs and the car was a project before that. When did re-stamps start anyway?
Is there a way to verify beyond a doubt either way ?

Hold on. Don’t believe them yet. Can you post aphoto of the VIN pad in better focus and light to the side but slightly above?

The block lacks the two reinforcing ribs above the timing chain cover that extend towards the intake manifold.

Is the block casting date I 1 5? Can you determine what the first or month character is. Is it something other than the letter I (eye)?

If the cast date is I 1 5 that is into the 1966 model year.

Can you post a pic of the reinforcing ribs. I was not aware of them. There is something there but I am not sure what i'm looking at.

Do you have any photos of the crankshaft installed or underside of bare block stripped to only the block?
