Hey everyone,
The plastic trim that surrounds the glass on my T-tops is coming off. It looks as though it was held on with double sided tape (or someone tried to fix it) and wondered what's the best way to fix it. Every time I take the tops off I have to press it all back on. Should I remove it, clean it and maybe use a small bead of silicone to attach it?
Also I have the finned L-82 valve covers. I had the motor rebuilt but I want to repaint the black between the fins. What's the best paint/process?
Thanks!
The original T-top trim was one piece rubber, which is available again from most of the supply houses. As for painting the valve covers......strip them clean first. I used airplane stripper. I then washed them in the dishwasher. I lightly roughed them using and abrasive pad. I then sprayed mulitple coats of high temp black paint. Once the paint is fully dry, use 100-150 grit sand paper and sand the fins clean. Mine look like new and have stayed that way for the last three years.
