Help: Whats a 1968 mint 327, 4 speed worth??
Hey,
I spotted a 1968 coupe on the way home and stopped to look. Its got a new rally red paint job, and appears to meet all the critera I found in the Black Book on it.
I called and spoke with the owner and he said he had bought it last year and the previous owner did the restoration. The restoration appears to be very well done, however I did not get in the car or start it. The owner offered to drive over so I could but I had to get home. He told me it was restored to all stock appearence and ran very strong. It has a 327 in it with a 4 speed. He said he drove it up to tenn. last month and that you could jump in and go wherever you wanted the car is very sound.
I was impressed by the paint job very nice.
Anyway he is asking 18,000. Whats it worth??? all opinions welcome
And any site where I could check a value for reference would be great.
If you have any opinion please post, Thanks Gonzo

I bet I saw this car at the corvette expo the other week in TN....well I saw a VERY simliar car and it was priced at 20k (atleast I think it was 20k).
anyway if the car is a nice car as in good frame and not a bunch or reproduction parts on it ...it might bring that number.

In April of '03, I paid $22K for my very original '68 327/350hp M-21 3.70 coupe that has received Bloomington Gold Survivor in '03 and in '04 NCRS 4 Star Bowtie Awards. Took me years to find this car as it was/is an EXACT duplicate of my first '68 Corvette I had in highschool(but was a POS )when I was 18yrs old. Besides the above named options, it has manual steering, brakes, windows, no telescopic, no A/C-just an AM-FM radio Almost kinda like an early LT-1 It has at present 42,600 original miles.

It's only worth what your willing to pay. Drive it, look at it and if you
can't live without it, buy it. If your buying for investment purposes,
get a C1 or C2, there production #'s are less, value in the speculation
market will be greater and will grow at a steady rate until critical mass
is attained. Good luck.

I think $18K sounds good for what you described.
A new paintjob can be very costly...does he have receipts for work done to paint, and in previous restoration?
Ive had a close eye on the market for 68-72 vettes the past year or more, Im not claiming Im an expert or anything (no way dude!), only cause Ive been looking to buy (finally found one!).
If you want a good car, you gotta pay.
Vettes rule!
Stay cool.

Does that sound right to you, I'm sure he spent more than that.

Sounds good to me! If I didn't have a 427, I'd hunt down a 327...nice "little" engine with low production numbers for '68.
But then again, I'm a CRAAZY Corvette-head and I KNOW you're gonna gimme some candy!
