yes you can modify just find a 69 title,vin. tag and remove windsheild
remove the 79-80 vin tag and presto you have a 69
i would not touch it with a ten foot pole
im sure that he made a mistake and listed it as a 69 and not a 79. tell me if im wrong but doesnt the vin number in the listing say its a 79? could be an honest mistake
I think that this is a 1979, and is a typo if it said 1969.
On the firewall there is not a cannister to operate the origninal vaccum/wiper combination. If it was redone to fit the 1980 style front end, would they go through that much trouble to remove everyting including items on the firewall?
I looked at the VIN number, and it could match that of a 1969 and not a 1979.
1969
1 = chevrolet
9= Corvette
4= 8 cylinders
37 = 2 door coupe
9= 1969
S= St. Louis
724575= serial number
But there should only be 12 numbers, and this VIN has 13. It may be a typo, but I still think it is a modified 1979 with 1980 up fiberglass replacements.

Q: Hi, What kind of 1969 Corvette is this, not even close. Thanks Paul

A: The title says 1969 Corvette. I realize it has had some body modifications. I have kept the reserve low for that reason. You are bidding on a fast, running modified 1969 corvette
The mods would have cost more than the car was worth and it lowered the value, I did this to my car but it was performance mods, 383 stroker, headers, sidepipes, suspension upgrade, transmission upgrade, torque converter up grade, custom wheels, new tires, stinger hood, etc.. My car still looks like (other than the stinger hood) and is a 1980 coupe. I went with the stinger hood because of clearance issues, I have an Air Gap high rise intake and the stock hood would not fit without cutting a hole in it and adding a scoop, I kept all the original parts including engine and transmission, just in case on day it may be worth some money original. I have over $35,000 invested right now and I'm not finished. I know I'd be extreemly lucky to get $20,000 for it.
Thats got to be a major typo, there is NO WAY IN HELL that is a 69. Maybe there a frame swap or something like that, but the interior, body, everything is totally consistant with that of a 79, there is no way a 69 WOULD be modded that much, why spend more for a 69 to make it an EXACT clone of a 79?
I am not a hard core corvette guy. I can not look at a car part and tell you what year it is; corvette or any other. All I can tell you is I have a clear title for a 69 and it matches the numbers on the vin plate. There are some spots where if you look underneath on the interior of the body you can see evidence of body work. I am sorry that is all I know
