Default Holley Shooters

Hi, I need to bump up the size of my shooters on the Holley 4160 carb I have on my '81. Does anyone know of an on-line or otherwise company that stocks these tiny things? No one locally does for sure. Thanks.

I think you mean the jets. You should be able to get them direct from Holley or try Jegs and Summit.

Maybe he means accelorator pumps? You can get them from Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts if you carefully describe to the kids behind the counter what a carburator is. Seriously - I went to Advanced Auto Parts, told them what I wanted, and after a puzzled look from them they let me page through the Holley catelog and order what I wanted, got them the next day from the local AAP warehouse who keeps these Holley parts in stock (they are probably not in stock at the store but they deliver to the store from the warehouse upon demand).

Hi, I am not sure where I got the name "shooter", might have been from the Summit websight. I think Holley calls it a "pump nozzle" too.

This is a little sorta round part about the size of a pencil, held into the carb with one phillips bolt, sits between an open butterfly and the carb wall. The stock one I have is a 25 (stamped into the part) and I am sure I need at least a 28.

My car is running pretty well, I think anyway, but from a dead stop at a red light it really hesitates at launch. Bottoms out my A/F guage showing it way too lean, but its almost normal correct at ldle and anything much over 20mph.

Is a pump nozzle and a jet the same thing?

BTW, I have always had bad luck with ordering from the local guys. That is why I like on-line orders if I can't buy it off the floor.

Thanks for all your help.

accelerator pump nozzles (shooters) are not the same as jets. You can get them here:

Jegs or Summit. Should fix your hesitation. Also play with the pump cams too. The larger pump will give you a larger fuel shot but the pump cam will change the rate and length of the shot.

Thank you for that quick response. That is exactly what I am looking for. At the price I am sure I will buy at least three sizes and see what works best. If that doesn't fix it, then I know where to get a replacement cam too.

Have a great weekend.

I got to admit I learned something from this post today that I never knew about Holleys. Thanks for the education. I got something out of that Jegs/Holley link also.
