Did the 76 Vette have rubber bumper guards front and rear? They would be on each side of the license plate in the front on the pieces sticking out the fartherest. I can't find them in any catalogs and other 76's at the shows have the tips painted black. Did they come out of the factory rubber or painted black.
If they're similar to my 79 (I'm not sure, but the photos look like they are), then they're part of the urethane bumper and are just painted black. Unless it's seamlessly molded on there at the factory, they're not seperate pieces to my knowledge.
I just had my car repainted. Before it was painted the edges of the black bumpers where worn and you could see urethane. The shop that painted my vet repainted the car blue and the bumpers black. They also reshaped them a bit to fix the worn edges. Looks like new now!

Ya the 76 did have the rubber bumper and they did come from the factory painted black
the black painted part of bumper is molded on to the full bumper skin
and are not a sepreat part
Eggsactly right. Also, many times when '75-'79 Corvettes are painted at body shops these are NOT detailed correctly and left body color-just check eBay-you'll see many of them there
I want to thank everyone that replied to my question. Now that I don't have to waste anymore time looking for rubber bumper guards, I can just paint mine black. Should they be flat black or satin?
