Default hazard flasher question

My hazards have been acting up and I know where the turn signal flasher relay is located but where is the hazard one located?

Check your owners manual. It should tell you there. What year is your car anyway? I know on my 73' one flasher is located at the fuse box and I remember replacing the other over the years but don't remember exactly where it is. I am pretty sure it is hanging under the dash. If your hazard flasher isn't completely bad already and is still clicking with the hazard button pressed in I would listen for the sound of it and trace it that way if you can't find your owners manual. I am going to go and take a look at my 73' later this afternoon to check again where mine is located. I have quite a few cars and can't remember the last time I change one in my C-3. If no one answers your question here I should know later and will check the forum to see if you got an answer.

One flasher is on the fuse box and one is under the passengers side lower dash pad mounted to a hole in the windshield frame. I went to AutoZone and searched through their flashers that fit our cars, and bought the American made flasher for about $8 or $9. Works great.

Went out and took a look at my 73'. The one located at the fuse box is the Hazard Flasher and the one located on the passenger side behind the dash is the turn signal Flasher.

Eddie you got ripped off at Auto Zone paying $8.00 or $9.00 for a american made flasher. I sell Wagner brand american flashers to my repair shops for under $2.00. I still have a couple of cases still made here in the USA. The new ones are either made in Mexico or over seas now. You may still be able to find some american made flashers at your local mom and pop parts store. Auto Zone isn't always the cheapest. Neither are Pep Boys. I have gone into these stores, walked around shaking my head at some of the prices they are getting for certain things that I sell to repair shops for less than half of what they are getting.

Yep lol on the very top of the fuse box. MUst have looked over it when i checked the fuse. If my hazards were super weak could it be due to this relay being bad?

Yes it is because you have a bad flasher that your signals are coming on very slowly 99% of the time. Go out and get yourself a part#552 Flasher. The parts store will know what one I am talking about. At least the mom and pop stores will.

I started to learn how to work on cars in the late 60's and believe me I learned the hard way plenty of times but you do learn. I still learn new things everyday about cars. Most recently on this forum I learned that I could recover the seats in my 73' Coupe with leather. Found it all out here on the forum. This was something I never made an attemp to do before although it was in the back of my mind. Did the job a couple of weeks ago and it came out great. Question: Did you get burned paying $8.00 for a 552 Flasher also? Hard for me to believe they are charging that kind of money for that item. I must be giving them away at just under $2.00.

$8.99!!! LOL but really thats not aton so I cant complain. Now to replace my steering column with a rebuilt one and mechanically Im running good (as far as I can tell right now). Only prob is Id love to change it myself but dont know anyone able to help "guide me" thru it. Oh well guess professionals will get my money on this one.

Wow 8.99!! May not be a ton of money but that sure is a lot of money to pay for a flasher. Your steering column shouldn't be too bad of a job to do. Why are you replacing yours anyway? Whats wrong with it? If its loose it probably only needs to be tighten inside. Most shops that know anything about them should do this job for you pretty cheap. Sometimes inners bolts in the column loosen up.

Well the clip that keeps the spring from touching the contacts is all broke up. Also the turn signal broke off and its not cancelling when I turn a certain right. The Ignition also needs to be replaced (it starts without the key). Plus im changing the interior from red and white to all white so Ill get a new one painted white. Not to mention cruise control switch not working right. Basically if this much is wrong no telling what else might be messed up so a whole new column with new parts and painted white will save me time and aggrevation in the long run.
