Default How do you lower your C3

"This is what was said by vette Brakes....

The rear can be lowered with longer bolts or a lower arch spring, the front will require cutting coil springs or converting to a transverse spring suspension package. see below

Thank You for your inquiry
Robin Wilkie "

How are you guys lowering your vette?

I cut front stock coils by half a coil. This lowered front end by 3/4".This got me to 26.5" floor to center of wheelwells. My rear was ok for my purposes.
Another way is new coils, and there are guys here who can advise you on that.
I would start now by documenting your existing height(floor to center of wheelwells) for a baseline reference.Factory heights were in the range of 27.8" +-.

Wow! I just measured, and have 28 1/2 up front, and 27 1/2 in back. I think I might need to trim my springs down.

Awesome...can you tell me the size of your rims and tires, the height to the lip of the fenders and if you have any issues with rubbing on the front?

Thanks....

I measured from my level garage floor to the center of each wheelwell,to the underside of the wheelwell lip. This was done on both sides, front and rear, with tires on.

Great. Now you know where you are starting from. Now you just have to decide which way to go.New springs or cutting existing ones. One thing I have learned is cutting existing springs proves that original stock springs do not fatique easy.i still have my cut stock springs in.I just checked the dimension, and it is as I quoted:26.5"

ONE BAD 69

WHAT is the height on your front and rear wheels? I know you run 17 in the front and 18in in the back...

Those fronts looks nice and low....guess 24-25ins?

Does anybody know the difference in weight between an original L-82, and a GM crate 350 HO deluxe?
I am wondering if the new engine is light enough to make the car sit an inch or inch and a half, too tall? Any ideas?

NO the deluxe motor has Iron heads.... so maybe a 30-35 lbs difference for the cast iron intake manifold and headers.

Maybe if you put in a LS1 motor like me... you would sit higher... my motor is all aluminium about 150lbs difference
