Default Trailing Arm Replacement

Looking for advice on the trailing arm replacement on a 1975 Stingray.

Bought the car as a project car two years ago as my practical school in car mechanics. Drove it on and off for a year until the left rear wheel bearing went out while on the freeway at about 65mph last April. A little wobble and then a loud screeching noise as the rear wheel caved into the wheel well. The disc brake snapped, and the inside of the bearing assembly turned to powder. The car has been sitting for one year in my garage until last weekend I spent 6 hours removing the half axle from the rear end and the trailing arm from the body. Schools is now in session.

I had the assembly taken apart by a friend in a repair shop. His grand conclusion; "Most of this is toast!"

I need professional Corvette advice in what to do. I see a trailing arm assembly on this website for $999.00. All of my other three wheels have some play in them which leads my inexperienced opinion to say that all of the wheel bearings need replacing.

Question: What would be the cheapest quality way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Bill

If you are good with tools, you can do them yourself. I did, but if I had it to do again I would send them to Van Steel. Then you will get it all back complete, looking nice, ready to install. You need a dial indicator, a stand, shims, and really the setup shaft to do it yourself. Sounds like you need some new parts too. Some of what you have left can be credited for a core I am sure. If you do it yourself, hunt down genuine US made bearings. Auto Zone carries Timkin, but they are not all US made.

The front wheel bearings you can do yourself pretty easily.
