Default Track times for c3's

I was just curious as to what kinda times you guys are getting with x amount of horsepower . Please list trans and gear. A friend and i just took his c3 to the chasis dyno and made 359RWHP with his 350. we cant get to track for a few days and want to know what to expect.

Thanks in advance
john

With 395 RWHP he should be in the 11's with decent traction and gearing.. Gearing is the key!

Do you get alot of wheel spin? 12.9 seems slow for that much hp and such little weight, especially matched to a 4spd.

359 RWHP should get him into the low-mid twelves assuming he can hook it up.

11.8 @ 114mph, 383 cubes, 1.61 60 ft., auto, 3000 stall, 4.11 gears, 370 rear wheel hp., 424 torque.......you could go 11's with right gearing & tires (drag radials or slicks).

It all depends on the setup..

I ran 11.67 with 365 RWHP and 5-speed tranny...

(that was with my old engine)

I have a stock ZZ4 engine (probably 300 HP at the crank) and get 14.07 in the 1/4 mile with a lot of tire spin. I can't get a sub 2.0 sixty foot time. Using a 700R4 and 3.73 rear gears.

It would be a 13.8 car with drag radials. That puts me right in with the stock C5's and LT4 C4's.

The stock 4-speed have a small first gear.. The TKO has a 3.27 first gear which makes a huge difference with traction..

that is now MY 383. Same motor, smaller headers and exhaust, full MSD ignition in an 3680 lb car loaded with 3.36 gears, tight 1800 stall convertor. 12.9

Olivier's car has 3.70's with a 5 speed and weighed only 3200 loaded.

My car again as above with my L48 warmed up with a cam, headers and carb, 14.6

I agree- set up & track experience both play a big role. I'll bet his car hasn't been lightened like yours & they say 100 lbs. is worth about .1 of a second. In any case I hope you're right because prior to going to aluminum heads, a much stouter cam, & a better torque converter I had 358 RWHP & 411 RWT. I'm pretty confident that I can run solidly in the 11's if I can just put it to the pavement.

Using 360 RWHP, I calculated some 1/4-mile MPH, based on various weights (ET is a function of traction and gearing, while MPH is indicative of HP/weight), and here is what I found:
3800 pounds = 111.22 trap-speed
3600 pounds = 113.54 trap-speed
3400 pounds = 115.41 trap-speed
3200 pounds = 117.77 trap-speed
3000 pounds = 120.32 trap-speed

"Old racers" used a formula known as the "HOOK-FACTOR" to determine how effecient their cars were, multpilying the ET by the MPH:
a 'factor' of 1320 was thought to-be optimal (i.e.: the car's potential ET had been maximized via gearing and traction).

Cars that sacrificed ET for streetability/mileage by using taller gearing would have a 'factor' in the 1380/1420-range:
most 'serious' street/strip cars have a 'factor' in the 1340/1360-range (my Z28 typically goes 12.85 @ 105 for 1349+ tax).

If we use a 'factor' of '1420' (worst-case scenario), we see that

111.22 MPH = 12.76
113.54 MPH = 12.50
115.41 MPH = 12.30
117.77 MPH = 12.06
120.32 MPH = 11.80

I have run a best of 12.70 at 110 with street tires and very poor traction.
